“If diet bad, medicine of no use; if diet good, medicine of no need”
Real food is the cornerstone of health; unprocessed, suitable for the species, fed to meet the need of the pet’s lifestyle, lifestage, gender, health and individuality.
There is no such thing as a complete and balanced diet in the one meal; body requirements change with every day, every season, every year.
A dietary plan must be simple, easily prepared, palatable and complementary to the goal of achieving your pets’ wellness.
Food is the most important of all medicines.

Herbal Medicine
Animals have always taken an active part in their own healing – resting, fasting – seeking out the herbs of the countryside they know through wisdom passed on by their families.
People learnt plant wisdom from observing the animals. Three quarters of the worldβs population still rely on herbs for healing and health. We have strayed from this ancient knowledge, now replaced by conventional and convenient pharmacies. This has bought tragedy (Thalidomide) and success (infectious disease control). But there is an element of healing in this approach that is missing β a disempowerment, a lack of personal involvement.
No man-made broth can supplant the healing power of a Nettles, Oatstraw and Alfalfa infusion to restore vital energy. Both animal and humansβ bodies recognize the ancient truth – the βwhole is greater than the sum of its partsβ.
It is said that there is no illness of mankind that does not have its remedy on Gaia.
Herbal Remedies
It is rather ironic that our animals are now the very ones who suffer becauseΒ they no longer have access to their natural medicines, or their knowledge has been lost in the process ofΒ domestication. It is our responsibility to offer it back to our animal friends, not as a manufactured drug but as the olde healing herbal medicine their bodies recognized long ago.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy was revered in the 18th C and had been a well-accepted branch of medicine, being taught in medical schools, having its own hospitals, and favored by Royalty.
Unfortunately, partly because of homeopathyβs success, its economies of use (hence drug companies did not profit) and the difficulty of some scientists to comprehend how it worked, it became demonized and subsequently phased out of conventional medical practice.
How homeopathy works has been well tested by science based on two principles- 1) water has memory, and 2) dilution and succussion , both essential processes that were proven byΒ early quantum physics scientists yet still poorly understood by βconventionalβ scientists.
Using the natural laws of healing, homeopathy essentially assists the body to heal itself, using the natural substances from minerals and the plant & animal kingdoms. It focuses on treating the animal, not the dis-ease, matching the totality of symptoms of the pet to the choice of the remedy. Animals respond exceptionally well to this modality, whether itβs for their physical, mental or emotional state.
Anyone who has seen the seemingly βmiraculousβ curative effect of a well-chosen homeopathic
remedy for a near death new – born pup, a severe case of gastro enteritis or a cat in acute renal failure, will appreciate its power.
The art of cure
Those who know how simple it is to suppress the dogβs itch by corticosteroid therapy also know how common is the subsequent recurrence with renewed vigour after the therapy has worn off.Β
Homoeopathy is a system of medicine that requires no name for the itch, no identification of bacteria or viruses and no side effects. A keen eye for detail by the Practitioner, a well- chosen remedy to match the symptoms and a willing owner will give the dogβs itch a permanent farewell.

Bach Flowers
βTreat people for their emotional unhappiness, allow them to be happy. and they will become well,β quotes Dr Bach. Disease is not just of physical origin and this realisation resulted in Dr Bach giving up a successful London Practice and seeking his treatments from the trees and flowers of the English countryside. Attuning himself to the environment, Dr Bach found 38 flowers that covered the negative mind states of his patients. The flowers included Heather, Wild Rose, Gorse, Beech, Larch & Willow.
As in homeopathy, there is no physical part of the flower in the remedy yet the energy of the plant is retained in the preparation. It is this energy that can unblock the patientβs channels so healing can begin. A fascinating study of how these energies may be retained can be found in the βMessages From Waterβ by Masaru Emoto.
Negative behaviour patterns may arise for several reasons – a traumatic experience, an inappropriate upbringing, diet, fears (real or imaginary). An example is the introduction of a new kitten to the old catβs household. The old cat hates the kitten. Remedies may be given to both, as both are adapting to change (Walnut); the kitten may think heβs boss (Vine), he βfails to get the messageβ from the older cat (Chestnut Bud), or the older cat may simply be overwhelmed by all the goings on (Elm). The remedies can be simply added to the water bowl, the trough or even in a little food.
